Fitting into the old gear

Yippee!!

This old mare can fit into 2 pairs of jeans she hasn’t been able to wear since the first week of April 2011....the end of the last weight loss effort :P. I also have to wear my belt with the ‘fat jeans’ or I’m forever hitching them up. I know it’s fashionable to wear the crotch of your pants around your kneecaps nowadays but that wasn’t ‘in’ when I grew up and with all my little “design modifications” (short back, high waist, lop sided hips, foal bearing hip width etc) I’m not meant to wear the latest styles.

I’ve lost another kilogram and have begun looking through my old clothing patterns as I’m going to make myself some new outfits over the school holiday break and do a big cleanout/remodelling of what will be the ‘oversize’ items. I can see lots of bags, picnic rugs, cat quilts etc. I figure if the stuff is gone and I have to purchase/make big clothes I’ll be more likely to keep the weight off rather than spend the money. Things that can’t be remodelled will go to the op shops in town.

Yes, I’m one of those people with deeeep pockets who takes ages to decide if purchases are a want or a need before they take out the cash. No easy credit for me – all cash or eftpos – if I don’t have the money then I don’t buy it or I’ll organise a lay-by for essential items like the new iron I will need soon as my Sunbeam has passed it’s 10th birthday and the dials are becoming stiff. Lol, must be from having been left on the cotton setting all the time as I only iron jeans and quilting fabrics.

Hoping  all you other ‘losers’ (that’s said in a good way) are achieving your goals :D.
Cheers,
Robyn

Vigilance

I'm very happy today as I've lost another kilo so that's 3kg in 3 weeks :D. I'm toning up and becoming fitter though and I've learnt in the past that this is the time not to be a lounge lizard as one or two missed days of exercise or a blowout in the daily kjs could mean I'll put half kilo back on in a couple of days.
A post is always better with a picture so here's the Marinated Chicken with some stir fried veges.

I know, I know the skin is still on the chicken so the vigilance was a bit lacking the second time I cooked this. It also cost me an additional count of 4 gm of fat and 400kj for the day!
If you want to try any of these recipes pictured the Symply too good to be True  Cookbook #1 and the weight loss journal giveaway is still available here. Just leave a comment and make sure I can contact you.

Cheers,
Robyn

Feedtime!

Just thought I'd put up a few pics of what I've been eating lately :). The Marinated Chicken and the Beef Stir Fry disappeared into the family vultures before I could photograph it! I still don't know how they stay so skinny when I eat the same things and less of them :(. I must have a better digestive metabolism - well that's my story and I'm sticking to it :D.

 Vegetable Lasagne

 Zucchini Slice

Moist Fruit Cake as everyone needs dessert sometimes and this has half the calories of a regular fruit cake.

Cheers and happy eating,
Robyn

Grazing

I'm discovering that grazing, or snacking is ok as long as I'm careful what I choose. A cob of fresh corn has nearly 3 times the kilojoules an apple does and about 6 times that of an orange. Mangoes are the equivalent of 2 medium apples, as is a large banana. I may as well have a slice of multigrain bread as a half dozen 20 cent piece sized baked crackers. I could eat half a lettuce and a whole cucumber and it would hardly make a dent in my daily kj allowance.
I'm not rigid with the daily kjs but I try to make sure the weekly total is within the limits to lose weight as some days, like the hot day we are having today, I don't feel very hungry but on a cooler day I will feel the need for more food. Cooler days are a problem with water consumption too as I'm not much of a water drinker unless it's a hot day and even with some flavouring in the form of a squeeze of lemon, lime or orange juice, it is still a chore to sip or drink water.
Lately I haven't been having enough sleep either and this hasn't helped with weight loss as the body does 'maintenance' when you are sleeping, which burns up energy. When I'm tired the temptation is also there to eat to stay awake and the choice is usually a sweet tasting item :(.
I'll try to post at least once a week, probably on my weigh in day which is Saturday, to help keep focussed. Off to make a silverbeet and onion pie now using a low fat recipe.
Cheers,
Robyn

Crashed and restarted

Apologies for not being able to do anything about the giveaway but I had a major computer crash a few weeks ago and I've only recently been lent a temporary replacement while my tower is sorted.

My Melbourne Cup tip ran third (Lucas Cranach) so there wasn't much to miss :P.

It seems that any who still follow this blog regularly must already have the Symply books as there was only one comment (thanks Barb!) and it was to decline the offer. However, the offer still stands but now it's the first person who asks for it and I'll throw in a "Symply too good to be true Weight Loss Journal" as well. So if you want to try this, or know someone who does, leave a comment on this post and it's yours.Overseas requests are welcome too.

I've been practicing what I'm preaching lately by calorie and fat counting and using my Symply books and I've lost 2kg in 2 weeks. I'm actually having difficulty eating the minimum recommended calories a day on healthy foods so I must have been eating small quantities of very fatty food before to gain weight as I'm only exercising 3 x 30min sessions a week now.
Shopping days are a terrible temptation so I'll need to return to packing a healthy lunch and having a picnic in the riverside park when I'm in town. Thank goodness the council doesn't have those greedy geese there any more!!

I'm planning on being down to 64kg by Christmas and that's just over 6 weeks away so I'll need to keep losing a kilo a week to achieve that. Lol, the only problem last year was I put it all back on during/after Christmas so I'll have to be more vigilant with what food I put in my mouth this year :D.

Cheers,
Robyn
